NJ CEU’S: This single day offering combines two NJ State Certified classes totaling 8.0 CEU’s. NJ Locksmiths will receive two 4.0 CEU certificates for their 2025 NJ State Locksmith License renewal.
Students must bring their NJ State License to class to receive their CEUs.

Certificate: A GPLA certificate suitable for framing will be awarded to each student.

Description:
Basic Low Voltage Electricity for Installers: This entry-level course is designed to introduce students to the basics of direct current (DC) electricity for low voltage locksmiths working on electronic locking and access control systems. Featuring a balance of presentation and hands-on exercises, students begin with the basics of AC and DC electricity, electrical concepts like voltage, amperage, ohms and continuity, and how to use a multimeter. Guided, hands-on practice with basic circuits and the development of circuits, identifying normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) circuits, and electronic door hardware round out this fundamental class.
Electric Strike Application & Installation: In this course, beginning with an overview of site surveying to determine what you need to consider – including codes, fire rating, frame and door type/materials, and fail safe/fail secure operation – and ultimately selecting the best strike for the application. The remainder of the class is focused on installation, with instructor demonstrations and hands-on practice of iinstallation techniques and safety practices.
All tools necessary will be provided on loan in class; however, students are welcome to bring their own multimeters, screwdrivers and wire cutters/strippers.

About the instructors::
Eugene Tiebout is an IBEW local 124 Journeyman wireman and previous Master Electrician. For the past 4 years he has worked for ASSA Abloy DSS A22, as the Vertical Market Specialist (2yrs) and Electromechanical Solutions Specialist in the Missouri and Kansas market area. He has trained, provided certifications and sales assistance to more than 500+ integrators, hardware partners and end users in the Aperio, IP, Integrated Wiegand, Yale Accentra multifamily, Persona and other electronic devices within the Assa Abloy portfolio. Eugene comes with 30+ years of Electrical, Access, CCTV, Intercom and HVAC Controls Design, Sales, installation, and Service. He has had roles in the industry as Technician, Programmer, Project manager, Service manager, Business development/Sales and Executive Director where he was responsible for all aspects of the security industry for various large and small customer. He has serviced, implemented and holds certifications for several systems within the low voltage and security industry such as Softwarehouse, RS2, Avigilon, Axis, Honeywell, FLIR, Exacq, American Dynamics, Pelco, Panasonic, MTI and Andover Continuum to name a few.
