NJ CEU’S: NJ Locksmiths will receive a 8.0 CEU certificate for their 2025 NJ State Locksmith License renewal. Students must bring their NJ State License to class to receive their CEUs.

Certificate: A GPLA certificate suitable for framing will be awarded to each student.

Description: This class will teach the very foundations that properly designed master key systems are built on. Topics include using proper terminology, record keeping, selecting a top master key for a system, and how to correctly progress a system to maximize available bittings and the security of the system. Learn why it’s important to know the difference between a “1-step” and a “2-step” system. Come learn why split-pin master keying is referred to as “the planned destruction of security”. Students should bring paper and pencils.

About the instructors::
John Truempy, CFL, CRL, CMIL, ICML, IFDI, LSFDI, was practically born into locksmithing. As an author, he has written many books focusing on both practical and esoteric applications for master key systems. As an instructor, he’s taught a wide array of subjects such as lock picking and basic master keying, as well as advanced subjects like investigative locksmithing, lock bypass techniques and advanced master keying. Currently, John is the first president of ALOA Institutional Locksmiths and president of the ALOA Scholarship Foundation. John is the owner of Lounging Lizard Publishing, LLC. John is a recipient of the Lee Rognon, the Robert Gress and the Gerald J. Connelly, Jr. Pioneer awards.
Vernon Kelley, CFDI, CFFDI, CFL, CMIL, CPL, ICML, IFDI, LSFDI, has been involved in the locksmith industry since 1989, and is a New Jersey licensed locksmith. He is the proprietor of Vernon Kelley Security Consulting, LLC. A noted instructor, writer, and an expert in fire and life safety codes in the means of egress, he’s co-author of the book “Institutional Lock Shop Management”. Vernon is currently the first trustee of ALOA Institutional Locksmiths, secretary for the ALOA Scholarship Foundation and an ALOA SPAI non-voting director. He’s a recipient of the Lee Rognon, AIL Influential Leader, Robert Gress, Gerald J. Connelly, Jr. Pioneer, and Ray D’Adamo ACE Instructor of the Year awards.
