NJ CEU’S: NJ locksmiths will receive two separate 4.0 CEU certificates for their 2025 NJ State Locksmith License renewal. Students must bring their NJ State License to class to receive their CEUs.

Certificate: A GPLA certificate suitable for framing will be awarded to each student.

Class Start Time: This class will start promptly at 8:00 AM. Classes will be closed 15 minutes after the posted starting time.  This is to avoid interrupting both the instructor and students.  Late arrivals disrupt the class.  We are sorry, but we can make no exceptions. No refunds will be made.  Please be on time – avoid disappointment.

Description:

The first half of this combination class is designed for participants with previous basic electronic knowledge and use of a multimeter. Covered in this course are advanced access control and system wiring techniques, installation and product troubleshooting. The class includes instructional and hands-on exercises covering the following subjects: • fire alarm interface • fail safe lock system wiring • fail secure lock system wiring • basic system trouble shooting – using multi-meter • wiring trouble shooting – what you should test • DK-26 and power supply trouble shooting • magnetic lock and electric strike troubleshooting • touch sense bar troubleshooting

The second half of this class will cover: basic understanding of the power supply and setting up the electric circuit using a load calculator, creating an Operations Narrative in conjunction with a wiring diagram, setting up advanced wired systems and product troubleshooting. The class includes instructional and hands-on exercises covering the following subjects: power supply circuits • load calculator • operational narrative • creating wiring diagrams • review of voltage • amperage and resistance with a multi-meter • series vs. parallel wiring • DK-26 and the AQD6 power supply • magnetic locks and electric strike setup and wiring • basic access control systems troubleshooting.

A GPLA certificate suitable for framing will be awarded to each student.

About the Instructor:

Russ Anderson is a Technical Product Trainer with ASSA ABLOY and has been with ASSA ABLOY for nine years now instructing locksmiths, integrator, architects, sales persons and facility managers globally in installation, solution selection and troubleshooting access control solutions. Prior to ASSA ABLOY, Mr. Anderson served in the United States Air Force for 24 years as a Superintend of Life Support and Escape Technology. He is a certified ACE instructor with ALOA and holds Masters Degrees in Business and Education.
